Hydrogeological Services for Quarry Development – Caroline County, VA

GMA provided hydrogeological consulting to a mining operation in Virginia’s piedmont geologic province to evaluate the impact of quarry development and mine dewatering on residential and municipal water-supply wells in the vicinity of the quarry.  GMA inspected the site and surrounding properties and evaluated existing data that was collected during a previous quarry operation in the area.  We characterized the groundwater flow system of the quarry and vicinity, and we concluded that it would be unlikely that any existing water-supply wells in the area would be adversely impacted by the development of a new quarry operation.
